Larrisa offers timely and effective legal advice and services for individual and corporate clients on the following immigration matters:

Temporary Residence – Visitor Visa, Study Permit, Work Permit (LMIA and LMIA-exemptions):

We can help you to evaluate whether you are likely to meet the requirements to enter Canada as a visitor, temporary worker, or student.  If you are eligible, we can assist with your application.  For prospective students, we can also assist with applying for admission to a designated learning institute that is recognized by the immigration authorities.

We also assist businesses in obtaining government authorization to hire temporary foreign workers (LMIAs).  In some cases, you are exempt from obtaining an LMIA for certain job offers. We will be able to help you to determine whether you are qualified for the exemption.

Permanent Residence – Skilled Workers – Express Entry – FSW, FST, CEC, CSQ:

We can work with you to plan your immigration to Canada in a multi-step process, usually involving investing in a business, obtaining a work permit to manage that business, then applying for permanent residence in Canada. We can review your background and objectives to help you choose the business immigration option that works best for you and your family, your business and your timelines.

One of the most underutilized immigration program is the Start-up Visa program. For qualified applicants who has the requisite education and experience with an innovative and unique business idea, they could be eligible for expert mentorship from a long list of designated business incubators and seed funding of up to $200,000 to implement their business idea in Canada. Once their application is accepted by one of the designated business incubators or angel investors, they may be eligible to apply for an express work permit to come to Canada and start their business, while they wait for their permanent residence visa to be processed.

Provincial Nominee Programs:

Each province and territory has its own immigration programs that target certain groups and has its own requirements. We can help you to evaluate whether you are able to meet the specific program requirements and assist you in making an application to the province or territory. If your application is accepted by the province and you have fulfilled the specific program requirements, the province may issue a certificate of nomination and you will be able to apply for permanent residence to the federal government.

Permanent Residence – Business Immigrants – Self-employed, Start-up Visa, Entrepreneurs:

We can work with you to plan your immigration to Canada in a multi-step process, usually involving investing in a business, obtaining a work permit to manage that business, then applying for permanent residence in Canada. We can review your background and objectives to help you choose the business immigration option that works best for you and your family, your business and your timelines.

Family Sponsorship:

Canadian citizens and permanent residents living in Canada can apply to sponsor their spouses, common law partners, dependent children, parents/grandparents, and in limited circumstances, other family members. We will help you to determine your eligibility and advise you on what to expect in terms of the application wait times. We can assist you every step of the way throughout the entire application process until the issuance of your permanent residence visa. If your application was refused, we can also help you to appeal the decision to the Immigration Appeal Division.

While the average processing time for a spousal sponsorship application is about 12 months, we have succeeded in cases which took only 4 months from application submission to PR visa issuance for spousal applications.

Citizenship:

Canada’s Citizenship Act has undergone many changes in the last few years. We can advise you when you are eligible to submit your citizenship application, and help you to prepare and submit the application.

Removal Orders:

If you are facing a removal order, we can assist you in preparing an application for a Pre-removal Risk Assessment (PRRA), submitting a request for a deferral of removal to the Canada Border Services Agency, or applying for a stay of removal to the Federal Court of Canada.

We can also appeal to the Immigration Appeal Division with respect to removal orders against permanent residents who have not met their residency obligations and other removal orders.

Appeals and Judicial Reviews:

We can help you review or appeal decisions refusing refugee claims, visitor visas, study permits, permanent residence and citizenship applications. We represent clients in appeals or applications to the Refugee Appeal Division, Immigration Appeal Division, and to the Federal Court of Canada.

We offer flat fee arrangements for most of our immigration services, and we consider payment plans on case by case basis.
